Introduction from the Author:

Hello friends and Fates Warning fans! This is the first post on the Fates Warning book page.

Book? Yes! I (Jeff Wagner) have been working on this book for several years, and it’s finally completed and waiting to be turned into a physical artifact at the printer.

The book will be released July 15, 2022. We start taking preorders May 16. More info to come.

This book was created with the cooperation of every single member of Fates Warning, past and present, along with those at the record labels who supported them, peer musicians, members of road crew, and a variety of others within the Fates sphere.

A few details on the book:
400 pages (including 16-page color spread)
232 images (176 b&w, 56 color)
53 footnotes

Anyone who owns my previous two books (Mean Deviation and Soul on Fire) will recognize many design aspects, including the cover’s French flaps and generally high quality of presentation. I labored hard over every single aspect, from the huge to the minuscule, to bring Fates fans a special document of the band’s career. Fates Warning, and its fans, deserve nothing less.
More info on the book will be posted on this page regularly. I’ll also be posting an FAQ soon; pictures that were not printed in the book; interview snippets that were not included in the book; and various other Fates-related stuff in the coming months.

Spread the word and thanks for your interest!
— Jeff Wagner

Hey guys, Tom from Kingsbane here. Im absolutely thrilled of the news. This will be a great read as I’ve been a fan since Spectre Within.

I have a cassette of the Raw Meat album Kingsbane was on back in the early 90’s. I liked the track a lot and could definitely hear Fates Warning’s influence. I looked for more from you back then but couldn’t find anything as it was pre-internet. I just saw your comment on this thread and did a quick search on YouTube and found a video titled 1991 Demo Tape. It is a really solid effort.

For those of us who don’t use Facebook, is there a link to where we can place a preorder?

Come on the torcher is killing me waiting on the preorder for the book. And please hope there’s no only 500 copies things. We know how ugly that might get. Keep the fates. He’ll no one ever checks this.

Guys, any chance for a reasonable overseas shipping fee? $22 shipping for a $32 book is just a tiny bit overkill.

    • Jeff Wagner May 21, 2022 at 5:12 pm - Reply

[Jeff Wagner] Book price is based on high cost of printing right now. And it’s a high quality printing in every way. As for shipping, there is no way to fix that. The US Postal Service charges slightly MORE than $22 for a book of this size/weight. It’s nothing I can fix. It’s not overkill, just reality. When I order vinyl from Europe, it’s the same high cost. There’s no way to get a lower shipping cost overseas. PHD are taking copies for European distribution when the book is released in July, so hopefully they’ll be putting it through channels that are more accessible/acceptable to you. Cheers!

Alright, guess I underestimated the weight and size of the book. 😉 Steep postal rate, though, I must admit. Anyway, book ordered, looking forward to it — seeing how big it appears to be and how much content it seems to have, even more so!

This book is brilliant. Since I randomly bought a used vinyl copy of Awaken Guardian around 1990 (because I thought the cover was awesome), I’ve been a fan and fell in love with all albums and lineups. This book is a gold mine of information for any fans.

Awesome book, tons of content, pictures and interaction with the band. I loved all the stories and seeing where I, as a fan, fit into this journey. As in the book, I was also one of those kids who dug through all those tapes at Co-Op records looking for new material to consume and broaden my metal pallet. (So I guess I connected early to the writer.) I was captured by the Awaken the Guardian cover and made my purchase. Anyway, as I read this book, I couldn’t help myself but to work myself through the entire Fates catalog as I was reading. Just a blast.
