“We are happy to debut the new video for “Seven Stars” from our latest album “Theories Of Flight”. This song is very special to me. The lyrics for this song were the first that I had written for the new album. I knew that my life was changing, I had met my lovely (now) wife who lived in Madrid, Spain and she was the inspiration for this song. I knew that I would be moving to Madrid soon, so the lyrics tended to come very organically. That theme would develop more as the writing progressed. Stories of change and moving on. Living life really. I found the flag of Madrid quite interesting. Seven white stars surrounded by red…Hence the inspiration for the title. I figured I would give a little tour of the city in the video since I’m now here. Enjoy!” ~ Ray Alder

Excerpts from Billboard’s article on the video:

“We felt that shooting the trip back to Madrid would be perfect for the video,” explains Alder. “All of the shots were filmed by my wife, who was the inspiration for the song, and I actually live here in the city. So I guess you could say the footage has special meaning.” (The city’s flag — which contains seven white stars — also inspired the song’s title.)

The band didn’t intentionally set out to give Theories of Flight a loose theme about being away from home, “it just turned out that way,” says Alder. Guitarist Jim Matheos was writing lyrics to the track “Ghosts of Home” about his childhood and moving from one place to another while Alder was writing about leaving his life in Los Angeles and “drastically changing everything that I knew as the norm. At the time I was writing lyrics I didn’t know that Jim’s subject was somewhat similar. It’s all a bit serendipitous.”

Big Fates warning fan. When I was a kid oh, there were kids too. I played drums in a local metal band from Hamden Connecticut. We opened up for them once and I used to do a fill in for my buddy Mike Z and we play a lot of Fates warning on the radio. Love their music then and I loved it now. Hammerdown gentleman.
